We specialise in the importing of stylish bamboo lacquerware from Vietnam and our emphasis is on style, quality and price. Our team of very talented designers work together to create a fusion of East meets West, mixing contemporary design with ancient old craftsmanship, and this is what keeps us at the forefront of ‘our’ field. For our lacquerware we have a team of highly talented designers who work together along with our manufactures in Vietnam to create a range of goods exclusive to us. We aim to blend Eastern traditional craftsmanship with Western contemporary style, something we feel we do quite well. Creating this hybrid enables us to offer you something different, unique to you, which is exactly what we’re all about.We’re a very conscientious and ethical company and strongly believe in fair trade, and so for example, like all of our silk handmade bed linen and cushions, we hand source from the northern villages of Laos, where we directly give our money to the local’s who hand produce these special items. We also hand source a lot of our jewellery, bags, lampshades and many other items from remote places where they hand make these spectacular pieces, all handmade for you. We take great pride and gain immense satisfaction in sourcing directly from locals and from where we do, and that’s our treat. Bamboo is officially recognized as the world's fastest growing plant and has a tensile strength comparable to steel. That is why we at mish mash are really trying to develop the Bamboo range of housewares and push to further develop into Bamboo furniture. As not only is it very sustainable, extremely durable and strong, but it's look is fresh, distictive and ultra stylish. *Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth. It is known to produce greater biomass and 30% more oxygen than a hardwood forest of comparable size, while improving watersheds, preventing erosion, restoring soil, providing sweet edible shoots and removing toxins from contaminated soil. Ecologists tout bamboo as a renewable source of food and building material. Many promote bamboo planting for erosion prevention, and even to reverse the effects of global warming. *Bamboo helps reduce carbon dioxide gases blamed for global warming. Some bamboo sequesters up to 12 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare, which makes it a highly efficient plant, and conducive to fresh air. Bamboo can be selectively harvested annually and regenerates without replanting. *Bamboo is a natural water control barrier. Because of its wide spread root system and large canopy, bamboo greatly reduces rain run off, prevents massive soil erosion and keeps twice as much water in a watershed. Minor marks, dents and slight cracks are part of the look of natural solid wood furniture and so shoud not be looked on as faults in the wood. There may be slight colour variations, this may occur due to the natural variation in the colour of the wood. Do not place hot items on furniture, use water, solvents or aerosoles on the furniture. Any spillages should be removed as soon as possible with a dry cloth. To clean please use a dry clean cloth. Mexican Pine Like all handmade natural products, the furniture can vary slightly in size and colour. This is a natural occurance. Variations in colour of wood, minor marks, blemishes or knots in the wood do sometimes occur due to the nature of the wood and should not be taken as fault, but part of its natural look. Solid wood responds to changes in heat and humidity by contracting and expanding and so should not be placed near or exposed to direct sources of heat. Aftercare for the Mexican Pine. The rustic look contributes to its resistance to minor knocks and stains, only adding to the authentic look and is generally carefree. However, Beeswax wax is available to buy from any decent hardware store, or contact us if you wish to purchase. Just ask a store assistant for wax for Mexican Pine.
